Closed Circuit Rebreather (CCR) Diver

Description  

The TDI Air Diluent Rebreather Diver course is the entry-level certification course for divers wishing to utilize a Closed Circuit Rebreather (CCR) for air diving. The objective of the course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards and proper procedures for diving a CCR and to develop basic CCR diving skills to a maximum of one hundred thirty (130) fsw / forty (40) msw using an air diluent for minimal decompression diving (no greater than 5 minutes required at 20fsw / 6 meters).

Upon successful completion of this course, graduates may engage in diving activities utilizing the specific CCR unit to a maximum of one hundred thirty (130) fsw / forty (40) msw, utilizing an air diluent with a decompression/safety stop at twenty (20) fsw / six (6) msw for a maximum of five 5 minutes duration.

Pre-requisites  

The student must be a minimum of 18 years of age

Proof of 100 dives outside of training

Minimum certification of Advanced Nitrox & Staged Decompression Diver (The TDI Advanced Nitrox & Staged Decompression course may be combined with this course)

Required Equipment  

A complete closed circuit rebreather

Bailout cylinder (minimum size 3L / twelve (12) cu. ft.)

Regulator system for bailout cylinder

Minimum of one (1) CCR dive computer and/or bottom timer and depth gauge

Line-cutting device Underwater Slate & pencil

Reel with a minimum of one hundred thirty 130ft of line.

Lift Bag/Delayed Surface Marker Buoy with a minimum of 25lbs of lift

Exposure suit appropriate for the open water environment

Appropriate personal gear

Duration  

Minimum 6 hours of classroom work

Minimum 2 hours of equipment maintenance workshop

Minimum 2 hours of confined water training

Minimum 6 hours of open water training

NOTE: This course is at least 5 days total

Location  

Because of the individual or small group nature of these courses dives and classroom can be done almost anywhere within the scheduling and budget limitations of the student. Possible locations include:

  • Lake Millbrook
  • Dutch Springs
  • North Florida
  • Florida Coast
  • North Carolina

Fees  

$1450 Tuition

$35 Certification and Registration

$120 Texts Boat fees, dive site entry, scrubber and fills are not included.

NOTE: if the instructor is required to travel for the course the instructor's expenses are the responsibility of the student(s).
