Advanced Wreck Diver

The next step for any diver that has taken a wreck diver course
Description  
During this course, your TDI Instructor will teach you the proper techniques for locating and planning a penetration dive. The course covers topics and skills like
  • Use of guidelines
  • Overhead emergency procedures
  • Redundant equipment requirements
  • Locating and identifying wrecks
  • Hazards of wreck diving
  • Surveying of wrecks
The TDI Advanced Wreck Diving manual covers all the most commonly used wreck diving techniques in cold and warm water. The manual also covers team diving techniques and preservation of wrecks.
Pre-requisites  
  • Minimum age 18
  • Certified as an SDI Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent
  • Provide proof of a minimum of 50 logged dives
  • Be certified as TDI Basic Wreck or Cavern Diver or equivalent
Required Equipment  
  1. Primary cylinder(s)
    • Cylinder volume appropriate for the planned dive and student gas consumption rate
    • Dual valve, double manifold or independent doubles
    • Labeled in accordance with TDI Standards
  2. Travel or decompression cylinders as required by site conditions
  3. Regulators
    • Primary and primary redundant required on all primary breathing cylinders
    • Submersible pressure gauges are required on all primary cylinder(s)
    • A contingency use long hose second stage should be designated and appropriately rigged to facilitate air sharing at depth if necessary
  4. Buoyancy compensator device(s) adequate for the open water environment
  5. Back-up depth and timing devices
  6. Air decompression computers allowed for use as depth and timing devices
  7. Light Systems- primary and backup
  8. Ascent reel with lift bag/surface marker buoy or up-line
    • Adequate for the planned maximum depth
    • Minimum of 12 kg / 25lb lift
  9. Exposure suit adequate for the open water environment
  10. Two line cutting devices
  11. Underwater slate
  12. Reels
    • Primary penetration reel
    • Safety reel
  13. Options that the instructor may require
    • Submersible dive tables
    • Bail-out cylinder with regulator
    • Jon-line
    • Slate, compass, surface signaling device (flare, strobe, etc.)
Required Text   TDI Advanced Wreck Diving manual
Duration   2 full days of in water training to include Six penetration / overhead dives and an accumulated bottom time of 100 minutes.
